A sheltered space framed by the wings of a farm house coastal home provides the perfect setting for a gardeners retreat. Protected from coastal winds, this south facing courtyard is a blend between timeless Mediterranean elements and our rugged west coast landscapes. By collecting heat and creating a warmer microclimate this space allows the gardening client a space to play with more tender perennials and plants, pushing the boundaries to our conventional horticultural options.
The open and inviting entrance to the house creates a welcoming pause, with a classic water feature, sitting area, and mounding, floriferous garden beds of drought resilient perennials, grasses, and shrubs. A generous greenhouse and raised vegetable garden allows the bounty of self sufficiency and the joy of many cut flower bouquets to come.
