Perched on the cliffs opening towards the coast mountains, this contemporary new build is unique for so many reasons. My clients were intent on creating a landscape that is restorative and environmentally conscious. The design incorporates a permeable gravel / slab paved driveway, extensive use of native coastal species and drought tolerant species, rainwater preservation and runoff mitigation.
A bioswale runs through the front yard, winding its way from the nearby wetland and under the boardwalk bridge to the large fenced vegetable garden. Wind tolerant coastal species of grasses and perennials blend into the existing preserved cliff top ecosystem. Raised multi functional decking/yoga platforms drift over the airy meadow.
