A large retaining wall was required for this project, and my client desired an alternative to concrete blocks or stones. Using FlexMSE, a green alternative to concrete, we were able to plant and create a living green retaining wall with the strength of an engineered block wall. This product allow plants to be planted directly into the wall, with roots embedding into the soil filled bags of earth, making a lush tapestry of seasonal colour.
As plantings grow and expand, this green retaining wall will become covered in a rich, green, living blanket and will create habitat for many insects.
